So, nun habe ich rund einen Monat um und in Chiang Mai verbracht. Die Stadt ist mir ans Herz gewachsen. Man spürt die Stadt nicht wirklich. Es ist eher wie ein grosses Dorf. Die Leute sind freundlich und hilfsbereit. Oft wurde mir ungefragt "geholfen".
Der Markt hat es mir sehr angetan. Mit Ausnahme von meinem letzten Marktbesuch habe ich selten etwas gekauft. Aber beim gemütlichen Schlendern zwischen den Ständen durch hab ich oft die Verkäufer beobachtet und wenn jeden spürten, dass ich ihr Arbeit anerkenne und ihnen ein Lächeln schenke, bekam ich ein Strahlen zurück.
Besonders in Erinnerung wird mir mein Rollerausflug zum Sticky Waterfall bleiben. Ich entschied mich mutig, einen Roller zu mieten. Bald schon merkte ich, dass mir meine Töffprüfung und somit das Fahrgefühl zugute kam. Auch wenn ich schon lange nicht mehr gefahren bin, schien ich es nicht verlernt zu haben. So fühlte ich mich bald ziemlich sicher und erreichten problemlos den Sticky Waterfall. Ich war fast die einzige dort und so erklomm ich den Wasserfall. "Pfloschpluder" nass war ich danach... aber bei 38° Hitze spielt das keine Rolle. Im Gegenteil es tat sogar gut!
Der Rückweg vom Sticky Waterfall führte mich über eine Holperstrecke durchs Niemandsland. Als ich unsicher wurde, ob ich mich verfahren hatte, deutete mir ein Thai ungefragt, dass das schon der richtige Weg sei! Ich fand den Heimweg... wie ihr hier sieht;-)
Ich hatte hier in der Stadt ein paar Lieblingsplätze, die ich mehrmals besucht habe. Unter anderem "Khao Soi Kuhn Yai". Hier kann man das nordthailändische Nationalgericht essen. Eine Currynudelsuppe mit fritierten Nudeln. Schaft, aber Lecker. Ebenfalls lecker gegessen habe ich im "Goodsouls" und in einem kleinen Restaurant in der Nähe vom WatDubphai. In der gleichen Strasse wie das Goodsouls und das "Fern Forest Cafe" ist. Ebenso hatte ich ein paar Kaffees mehrmals besucht. Das Kuhm Cafe, das "Into the Woods" und das "Fern Forest Cafe".
Es gäbe in dieser Stadt noch einige Orte zu entdecken. Wer weiss, vielleicht zieht es mich wieder mal hierhin... ziemlich wahrscheinlich.
So, now I spent about a month around and in Chiang Mai. The city has grown dear to me. You do not really feel the city. It's more like a big village. The people are friendly and helpful. Often I was "helped" without being asked.
The market has done me a lot. With the exception of my last visit to the market, I rarely bought anything. But as I strolled through the stalls, I often watched the salesmen and when everyone sensed that I recognized their work and gave them a smile, I got a radiance back.
Especially in memory, my scooter trip will stick to Sticky Waterfall. I bravely decided to rent a scooter. Soon I realized that I benefited from my Töffprüfung and thus the driving experience. Even though I have not ridden for a long time, I did not seem to have forgotten it. So I soon felt pretty safe and easily reached the Sticky Waterfall. I was almost the only one there and so I climbed the waterfall. I was "Pfloschpluder" wet afterwards ... but at 38 ° heat that does not matter. On the contrary, it was even good!
The way back from the Sticky Waterfall took me over a bumpy road through no-man's-land. When I became unsure if I had lost my way, a Thai interpreting me unasked that this was the right way! I found the way home ... as you can see here ;-)
I had some favorite places here in the city, which I visited several times. Among other things, "Khao Soi Kuhn Yai". Here you can eat the northern Thai national dish. A curry noodle soup with deep-fried noodles. Shank, but tasty. I also ate delicious in the "Goodsouls" and in a small restaurant near the Wat Dubphai. In the same street as the Goodsouls and the "Fern Forest Cafe" is. Likewise, I had visited a few coffees several times. The "Kuhm Cafe", the "Into the Woods" and the Fern Forest Cafe.
There are still some places to discover in this city. Who knows, maybe I'll be drawn here again ... pretty likely.
