Heute stand erneut ein Fahrttag auf dem Program. Dösend, lesend, schreibend, Musik hörend sassen wir im Track, als Wakka plötzlich scharf bremste. Ein Emu-Herr mit seinen Kindern stolzierte am Strassenrand. Ah... nein... was tut er da???? Ja, er führt seine Jungen über die Schnellstrasse! Wir halten alle unseren Atem an und hoffen, dass nichts passiert. Nach ein paar Minuten dürfen wir entspannt ausatmen. Er hat alle Jungen sicher über die Strasse gebracht.
Nach ca. 6 Stunden im Truck erreichten wir das Meer und konnten unsere Beine etwas am Strand bewegen.
Ein wundervolle Sonnenuntergang beim Lighthouse schloss den Tag ab. Die letzte Nacht auf einem Camping stand bevor.... leider.
Freudig, nervös, gespannt und aufgeregt war die Stimmung beim Frühstück am nächsten Tag.
Auf die ganze Gruppe wartete ein Abenteuer auf dem Meer. Zu dem Zeitpunkt wussten wir noch nicht wie speziell dieser Tag sein würde.
Während Grant, Mary-Lyn und ich "nur" als Beobachter auf dem Whalewatching Boot waren, freute sich der Rest der Gruppe darauf, mit Walen zu schwimmen!
Ich insgeheim hoffte einfach, dass ich bei meinem 5. Versuch Wale zu sehen nun endlich einen zu Gesicht bekommen werde.
Ich wurde nicht enttäuscht... im Gegenteil. Was ich heute hier erlebte war magisch. Nachdem ich bereits nach einem Foto einer Flosse zufrieden war, sah man in der Ferne Wale die berühmten "Bridging" machen. Meine Kamera stets bereit hoffte ich, dass einer der riesigen Meerbewohner in Linsenreichweite aus dem Wasser schiessen wird. Und da... einer der Humpbacks war in Sprunglaune. 6 Mal kurz hintereinander Schoss er aus dem Wasser und drehte sich wie eine Ballerina um die eigene Achse um dann mit mit einem massiven Spritzer wieder im Wasser zu landen. Unglaublich, atemberaubend, berührend, magisch... unbeschreiblich!
Doch nicht nur sich, sondern auch meine Freunde an Bord sollten heute ein Wunder erleben.
Als sich zwei Gruppen auf den Weg machten einem der Riesen im Meer zu begegnen ereignete sich etwas einmaliges.
Schon fast an der Gruppe vorbei geschwommen wurde der Humpback neugierig und drehte um. Er schwamm in Augenkontakt direkt auf die Gruppe zu! Unerlaubt nahe sah er sich die Menschen an und drehte anschliessend vorsichtig um, ohne einen der Zwerge (im Vergleich zu ihm) in die tiefen des Wassers zu ziehen.
Ich glaube ihr könnt euch die Gesichter, das Gejubel und Geschrei der Gruppe lebhaft vorstellen!
Für dieses Erlebnis gibt es eigentlich keine Worte... und auch die Bilder können es nur im Ansatz widerspiegeln.
Today was another day of driving on the program. Dozing, reading, writing, listening to music we sat in the track, as Wakka suddenly stopped sharply. An emu gentleman and his children stalked the roadside. Ah ... no ... what is he doing ??? Yes, he leads his boys over the highway! We all hold our breath and hope nothing will happen. After a few minutes we can exhale in a relaxed mood. He has safely brought all the boys across the street.
After about 6 hours in the truck we reached the sea and could move our legs a bit on the beach.
A wonderful sunset at the lighthouse closed the day. The last night on a camping was imminent .... unfortunately.
Happy, nervous and excited was the mood at breakfast the next day.
The whole group had an adventure on the sea. At that time we did not know how special this day would be.
While Grant, Mary-Lyn and I were "only" as observers on the whale watching boat, the rest of the group was looking forward to swimming with whales!
I secretly just hoped that on my 5th attempt to see whales I would finally see at least one.
I was not disappointed ... on the contrary. What I experienced here today was magical. After being satisfied taking a photo of a fin, you could spot whales making famous "bridging" in the distance. With my camera always ready, I hoped that one of the huge sea-dwellers in lens reach would shoot out of the water. And there ... one of the humpbacks was in a jump mood. 6 times in quick succession he shot out of the water and turned like a ballerina around its own axis and then with a massive splash again in the water to land. Incredible, breathtaking, touching, magical ... indescribable!
But not only me, but also my friends on board should experience a miracle today.
As two groups set out to meet one of the giants in the sea, something unique happened.
Almost swum past the group, the humpback was curious and turned around. He swam in eye contact directly towards the group! Unauthorized close, he looked at the people and then turned around carefully, without pulling one of the dwarves (compared to him) into the depths of the water.
I think you can imagine the faces, the cheering and the screaming of the group!
For this experience, there are actually no words ... and even the pictures can only reflect it in the approach.
